A Pickup Truck would significantly improve our Transportation Program

The goal of this year’s Spring Fundraiser is to raise funds to purchase a pickup. We currently have a motorbike to get around to rural villages and farmers to build relationships and organize loads. We also have a light duty commercial truck capable of carrying some pretty heavy loads … when the roads are in good shape.

But unfortunately, so many of the roads are too poor for the truck. When it is loaded, it is just not strong enough to deal with muddy or heavily rutted roads. Excessive breakdowns and maintenance costs result.

It is difficult to imaging the challenges Liberian’s face on their roads. Most are dirt, some are gravel, and very few are paved …

To extend our reach … and to reduce the wear and tear on our truck, we would like to purchase a used, but maintainable 4 wheel drive pickup. Maybe something along the following lines:

This is an example of 2017 Ford Ranger 4 wheel drive pickup that would suit us well. The owner is asking $17,000.

In some situations, the pickup will be a 2nd source of transportation for smaller loads. In others, we will use it to go to more difficult areas, get 1 or 2 loads, and travel out to a better road where we can transfer them to the truck. And with each trip, our EDP Staff will be building relationships and actively sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with each of our customers!
