Too much rain ... and poor roads ... plagues Liberia during 'rainy season'
Month to month rainfall varies dramatically in Liberia. May thru Oct monthly rains vary from 10 to 16 inches. Then, Nov thru April rainfall declines to as little as 1 to 6 inches. This year, September and October have been even wetter than normal. When you couple heavy rains with very few paved roads and inadequate bridgework; the people experience severe hardships!
Just getting to the marketplace to purchase food and supplies (or to sell something for income) becomes an exhausting and life threatening ordeal. And to make matters worse, most of this past year’s crops have now been consumed. Many are now experiencing hunger.
Here are two pictures to help explain the severity of these transportation problems. Thank you for being in prayer for the safety of our Kids, Staff, and Neighbors. They are looking forward to November when things will dry out considerably.
